On Friday, June 17, 2005, Archbishop Sean O'Malley announced that Sacred Heart Parish will build a new church.  Fr. Dan made the announcement during the school year-ending Mass.  Archbishop O'Malley said, "In the face of tragic events, the parish of Sacred Heart Church has come together to support each other and an entire community.  I am moved by their love for one another and by the strength of their faith.  Father Riley has been working around the clock with parishioners to see what we could plan to rebuild.  Today, I am proud to announce Sacred Heart will continue to be a beacon of hope and prayer for so many."

Fr. Riley said, "On behalf of the people of Sacred Heart Parish in Braintree and Weymouth, I extend my sincere thanks to Archbishop Sean.  From the moment he heard of the fire, he has been absolutely terrific!"  He added, "I want to thank the people of Sacred Heart Church and School.  Dealing with the loss of a magnificent church building, their trust in God and their love and support for each other has been inspiring."  Father Riley will work with the Parish Council to begin the planning process for building a new church.  The Archbishop offered the help and assistance of the Archdiocese in support of our efforts.

Sacred Heart Church was destroyed in a fire June 9th.  Please keep Sacred Heart Parish in your thoughts and prayers as we deal with this sudden tragedy.  All Masses will be celebrated in the School Auditorium at the regular schedule times until further notice.  Please see our "Mass Schedule".

At this time we are still in the beginning process.  We have chosen and have begun discussions with the architectural firm about our new church.  As we progress, we will keep you updated on the website and in the weekly bulletin.
